What do I need to bring with me to the hospital?

Bring a list of or the actual medications you are taking for the hospital to make note of (not for your personal use), Health Insurance cards, personal items you use daily for health or cleanliness such as soaps/shampoo, dentures and a toothbrush, corrective lenses, and other prosthetics. Items to entertain yourself. Items you should not bring include: valuables such jewelry and non essential credit cards, weapons, illicit drugs.

Where is the nearest blood donation location?

Suncoast Blood Bank, located at 710 N. Brevard Ave, Arcadia. The Blood Bank is located on Highway 17 North one half mile south of DMH: the hospital also hosts the blood mobile for donations bi-monthly. Visit our homepage to see the next donation date.

How do I obtain a copy of my Radiology visit?

Call 863-494-8440 to make arraignments to pick up a CD of images of your study. You can also pull your radiology read report from the patient portal.

What services are offered to patients during their stay?

Newspaper delivery Monday-Friday, patient education, 24 hour nursing, radiology and lab care and personalized nutrition plans.

Who will compose my treatment team while at the hospital?

You will have a team of healthcare providers including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse assistants, pharmacists, nutritional ambassadors, respiratory therapists and a case manager.

Why didn’t my insurance pay this balance?

Your insurance company may determine that a portion of your visit is due from you. Deductibles, co-payments and items and services not covered by your insurance are your responsibility.

Why did I receive a bill about a month ago saying that I did not owe anything, and now I am receiving another bill asking me for payment?

When a claim is sent to your insurance company, an informational letter is sent to you. This letter is not a bill. You will receive a statement from the hospital only if the insurance company has not paid your bill or if the insurance company determines you are responsible for the balance due. Insurance companies typically send an “explanation of benefits” form to their beneficiaries explaining their payment.

I have Medicare and a Medicare supplement, why do I have a balance due? Medicare and my supplement have always paid everything at 100%.

Medicare and Medicare supplements do not cover some medications. Your Medicare Explanation of Benefits will list these charges as non-covered and due from you.

Why am I receiving a bill from the hospital and other physicians too?

Physician services provided to you will be billed separately from the fees charged by the hospital. If you receive a bill from the physician and have questions, please call the telephone number listed on the physician’s bill.
